About Life, a one-stop shop for natural groceries and wholefood nutrition under one ethical, sustainable roof, has celebrated its 20th birthday.
About Life now has eight stores across Sydney and Melbourne branch, yet sprung from humble beginnings in Sydney’s Inner West. Born from the vision of two sisters, Jodie Stewart and Tammie Phillips, About Life started in a small shop on Darling Street, directly across the road from the current Rozelle store.
The first store was built around a wholefoods café, with packaged natural groceries and a naturopathic section. By 2005, the business moved across the street to its current location. This larger store had a wide range of fresh and packaged natural groceries, as well as fresh fruit and vegetables, and refrigerated ready-to-cook take-home meals were prepared in the on-site commercial kitchen. The cafe expanded and there was additional space for the naturopathy section. The catering division expanded and in a short time, deliveries were being made across the whole of Sydney. The company sees an expanded future beyond the eight stores it currently operates.
“We know how much natural foods and products can transform peoples’ lives, as well as leave this world a better place,” About Life co-founder Jodie Stewart said.
“Therefore, it’s both thrilling and humbling to be able to offer this to as many people as possible. We have a unique and unrivalled product mix and quality – About Life is the best one-stop-shop for natural, ethical and sustainable foods and household products. The food we sell is as close to nature as it gets – we exist to transform the quality and longevity of people’s lives and the planet in a socially responsible fashion. It has always been our intention to be available to as many people as possible. We see new opportunities on a daily basis, and we are incredibly excited to see what the future holds for our business.”
