Australian low-carb keto company Locako has signed an exclusive deal with Woolworths to stock three of its collagen snack bars in stores nationally.
It’s Locako’s first foray into a national supermarket chain and signifies a huge milestone for the Australian business, run by mum-of-two, Ally Mellor.
Starting with an initial investment of $2000, while juggling a newborn, Ms Mellor has grown Locako into a million-dollar business which has increased 400% year-on-year as more Australians embrace a low-carbo keto lifestyle.
“We’ve doubled production to meet the demands of a national scale-up and forecast our snack range will grow by 50% off the back of the partnership,” says Founder Ally Mellor.
As part of the partnership, Locako created two new flavours of its popular collagen snack bars exclusively for Woolworths – chocolate hazelnut and chocolate caramel, and will also sell its Beauty Collagen Brownie Bite in berry white chocolate.
“Locako’s pasture-raised collagen snack bars are low-carb, gluten-free, low-sugar and good for gut health, with 10% collagen which is around half the recommended daily intake for maximum health benefits,” continues Ms Mellor.
“Collagen is the most abundant naturally occurring protein in our bodies but reserves decline as we age, resulting in wrinkles, weaker nails, brittle hair, joint degeneration, muscle loss and digestive issues.”
Locako since launching, now offers 30 different “clean, healthy and nutritious products” including collagen mousse, monk fruit sweetener, keto powders, and a new beauty range which features beautifying collagen and hyaluronic acid as well as native ingredients sourced from Indigenous communities such as Kakadu and Davidson Plum.
