McKenzie’s Foods partners with Tetra Pak to bring convenience to home cooks

Australian owned business McKenzie’s Foods has partnered with food and beverage packaging and processing company Tetra Pak to release a new range of pulses packaged in Tetra Recart®.

“The packaging solution not only provides greater convenience, but also has the lowest CO2 footprint on the market in Australia and New Zealand*,” according to Tetra Pak.

The range includes five varieties of high quality, pre-cooked pulses that are ready to serve, including Cannellini Beans, Chickpeas, Lentils, Red Kidney Beans and a Three Bean Mix.

“These pre-cooked pulses provide consumers with a more convenient and efficient cooking experience,” says McKenzie’s Foods. “The practicality of Tetra Recart® is unmatched for McKenzie’s wet pulses, offering a packaging solution that is easy to open and store, and is optimised to ensure food stays fresher for longer helping to reduce food wastage without the need for added preservatives.”

McKenzie’s Foods Marketing & Innovation Manager Micaela McGee says, “McKenzie’s has been the market leader of dried pulses in Australia for decades, however we recognise that not all home cooks have time in their day to soak dried pulses before they begin preparing their meal.

“Offering consumers a pre-cooked option for pulses has been a goal of ours for some time and part of this process included searching for suitable eco-conscious packaging. Tetra Recart is the perfect solution – we’re thrilled to offer a delicious, ready-to-eat product that caters to the needs of eco-conscious and convenience-seeking Australians.”

As well as offering unrivalled convenience, this new range is also packaged in a more sustainable and user-friendly packaging option than cans, meaning consumers don’t have to compromise on environment.

“Tetra Recart packaging has up to six times less climate impact than cans when comparing the lifecycle of the two packaging options*. It is 60% lighter, occupies 30% less shelf space, and reduces transport space by 20%, reducing carbon emissions,” according to Tetra Pak.

Tetra Pak Oceania Marketing Director Giancarlos Larocca says: “McKenzie’s represents another iconic Australian brand which has chosen to welcome Tetra Pak on board as a packaging partner.

“Supporting food and beverage brands, like McKenzie’s, as they transition to innovative and sustainable packaging solutions is fundamental part of addressing challenges across food systems. This is something our team is innately passionate about, as we work to make food safe and available around the world,” he added.

General McKenzie’s new range in Tetra Recart® (RRP $2.20 per unit) is available exclusively at Woolworths stores nationally.
