Mondelēz International invests $25M to boost biscuit production at Gourmet Food

Mondelēz International, one of Australia’s largest food manufacturers, has unveiled a new state-of-the-art packaging line at its Gourmet Food manufacturing facility.

The $13 million asset headlines $25 million invested by Mondelēz International since acquiring the business in 2021. The strategic investment will increase production of the Olina’s Bakehouse Artisan crackers range by 35%, unlock additional export opportunities and drive further demand for Australian sourced ingredients.

Gourmet Food, known for baking on-trend innovations for nearly a decade, has been a valuable addition to Mondelēz International. The injection of $25 million demonstrates the company’s commitment to local manufacturing and expanding its presence in the premium cracker and biscuit market.

Gourmet Food Managing Director Bevan Tippett says: “This investment demonstrates our belief in Gourmet Food and our commitment to making an exceptional range of biscuits and premium-crackers that delight consumers.”

“The investment will increase the production of our prominent Olina’s Artisan range by a third, as we meet growing local and export demand. Already, twenty percent of our volumes are exported overseas, and this investment will equip us to explore and capture opportunities to showcase our Australian-made products to the world.”

Already operational, the new packaging line is powered by 100% renewable electricity. Gourmet Food has joined Mondelēz International’s Victorian renewable power purchase agreement with Pacific Blue Retail (formerly Tango Energy).

The initiative will reduce the carbon footprint from the facility by 44% (against a 2023 baseline) and compliment Mondelēz International’s Ringwood and Scoresby factories already powered by renewable electricity.
