An official ban on the advertising and display of e-cigarettes and accessories is now in effect in NSW.
Introduced as law on December 1, the ban prohibits retailers from advertising or promoting e-cigarettes or accessories in any public place, including signs with messages such as ‘E-cigarettes available/for sale here’.
All e-cigarette stock and accessories must also be hidden from view, meaning that retailers stocking electronic options will need to reformat their stores to comply with the new laws.
The advertising ban includes moving pictures, symbols or other visual images or audible messages, but the ban does not extend to radio or television broadcast, and it does not affect wholesale vendors.
Retailers can access information on compliance found at www.health.nsw.gov.au or by calling the Tobacco Information Line on 1800 357 412.
