Perfection Fresh and Tess Fresh unite to grow convenience in fresh produce

Perfection Fresh will be taking a controlling interest in Tess Fresh, a leader in the fresh food industry creating and producing processed and packed fruit and vegetables for customers all around Australia. Following several years of working together collaboratively the acquisition was finalised on 5 September 2022.

The new investment for the Perfection Fresh group will combine the operational capability and expertise of Tess Fresh with the national scale, retail customer relationships and consumer and product understanding of Perfection Fresh, bringing new opportunities to fresh produce convenience and ready-to-eat for Australian consumers in the years ahead.

“Perfection Fresh is on a journey of our next phase of growth. To compliment and expand on our current capabilities in fresh prepared and ready-to-eat fresh produce, Tess Fresh broadens that capability to unlock value for the entire value chain beyond where we are today,” says Perfection Fresh CEO Michael Simonetta. “Convenient, ready-to-eat products will extend the Perfection Fresh portfolio beyond its current range, and that is a critically important component of our current strategic plan.”

Tess Fresh Director Steve Tesoriero has welcomed the development, recognising that “Tess Fresh is a perfect fit for the future growth plans that Perfection Fresh has.”

“Our existing customers, as well as potential new ones, will benefit from Perfection’s national sourcing and distribution network. We’re extremely proud of what the Tess Fresh team has achieved over the past 30 years in the fresh produce industry,” Mr Tesoriero said.

“A focus on staff and our existing customer and supply partner relationships is vital to the success of this evolution, there’s enormous potential and opportunity ahead,” says Tess Fresh Business Manager, Chantelle Tesoriero, who will be joining Perfection Fresh management to lead the convenience division following the deal.

The complete integration of these two fresh food businesses is expected to take several more months, with work sites for both organisations remaining the same for the time being. The priority for the entire team is to focus on meeting existing customer needs now and into the future.
