Sydney Fish Market is celebrating 35 seafood species that are often overlooked or under-loved in a new cookbook.
According to the fish market, while Australians love their seafood, and are blessed with an abundance of it, they generally aren’t very adventurous.
“The classics fly off the shelves year-round, while lesser-known species are often left to the wayside,” it says.
The new cookbook, A Fish For All Seasons, has been created by Sydney Fish Market with recipes developed by the team at Sydney Seafood School. It will introduce Australians to a wide range of sustainable, affordable species and provide tips on how to buy, prepare and cook them.
In addition to 70 accessible seafood recipes, with easy species substitutes for each, it also has 30 recipes for salads, sides and sauces that are “ideal building blocks for a lifetime of seasonal seafood cooking”.
“We are thrilled to introduce consumers to a whole new range of seafood species to help them create delicious dishes at home. There are so many options that are full of flavour and often more affordable than the traditional choices, helping to stretch the everyday budget,” says Sydney Seafood School Manager Sally Webb.
“Each recipe in the cookbook has been created with affordability and seasonality top of mind as we know cost of living and shopping sustainably are key considerations for Aussies. We hope people are inspired to try something different and learn a new skill along the way. With 100 accessible recipes, there is truly something for everyone and any occasion.”
A Fish For All Seasons is available to purchase for pre-sale through the Sydney Fish Market website for RRP $59.95.
The cookbook follows Sydney Fish Market’s launch of a new content hub, 100 Species, in July, challenging consumers to step outside their comfort zones and embrace often overlooked seafood.
