Woolworths completes upgrade of Darwin supermarket

The $9 million, four-month extension and refurbishment of Woolworths Nightcliff was completed this week.

The upgrades to the store in the Nightcliff Shopping Centre provide enhanced choice and convenience for customers, including improvements to the delicatessen, seafood, bakery and fruit and vegetable area, and a new meat servery. In addition, the extension has increased the store size by around 1,000sqm.

The store has new energy‐efficient LED lighting and aisle signage. The supermarket entrance has been redesigned to allow easier customer access, and the layout for the check-out area has been improved, and additional self‐service check-outs installed, to ensure customers can pay for their items quickly and get on with their day.

Woolworths Nightcliff Store Manager Chris Quince says the store is proud of the role it plays in the community.

“We are delighted our local Woolies has been upgraded to create one of Australia’s most modern supermarkets,” he said. “We apologise for any inconvenience the revamp may have caused, but the investment will deliver a supermarket local residents will enjoy shopping in.

“These improvements will enhance our customers’ shopping experience as they pick up fresh Australian fruit, vegetables and meat, inspiring meal ideas, a wide choice of healthy options and a huge range of grocery items at great prices.”

The investment is part of a wider refurbishment program across Australia, with a number of supermarkets undergoing significant upgrades or extensions this year.
