WHAT’S NEW ‘FLAVOUR COMBINATION OF THE DECADE’ Violet Crumble Caramel is described as a “fresh take on an Aussie classic” positioned as the “flavour combination of the decade”. Confectioner Robern Menz says the bite-sized chunks offer the “legendary golden honeycomb” covered in a creamy caramel- flavoured white chocolate, and will “help you forget the past eight months”. “When we first trialled the new flavour combo, we instantly knew we were on to something,” Robern Menz CEO Phil Sims said. “You bite into that smooth caramel flavour, followed by the shattering sharpness of the honeycomb, and it smells incredible.” The Violet Crumble Caramel 170g bag is available nationally in Woolworths stores and online (RRP $4.40). CAPTURING FLAVOURS OF NATIVE AUSTRALIA Lilydale is celebrating “the very best Australia has to offer” with its Australian Native Collection. The range is inspired by local native ingredients sourced from “our very own backyard”, paired with Lilydale, “Australia’s favourite free-range chicken”. All flavours are said to be carefully selected to capture the “distinct and exotic” flavours of native Australia. Available in the variants of Finger Lime, Bush Spice & Chilli Breast Strips, and Quandong Peach, Mountain Pepper & Chilli Drumsticks, the Australian Native Collection is available from select Coles stores nationally from 16 September. PLANT-BASED ‘BEEF’ WITH ‘MEAT NUTRITION’ Australian based producer of plant-based meat substitutes, v2food, is following up the claimed success of its Rebel Whopper at Hungry Jack’s by launching a range of premium v2burger and v2mince products in supermarkets across the country. Developed in partnership with the CSIRO to “match the nutrition of meat”, v2 products “pack the same hit of protein, iron, zinc, phosphorus, and vitamins B12, B3 and B6 as beef”, while containing a “good dose” of fibre and, “naturally”, no cholesterol. The product, according to v2food, looks, cooks and tastes like meat and is available at a “comparable price point” to beef, giving consumers the freedom to enjoy “delicious” Australian-made plant-based meat alternatives without paying a sustainability premium. SUPPLYING WASHABLE, REUSABLE MASKS My Medical Supply has released an “innovative” washable and reusable mask in response to what it claims is current demand. According to the brand, all masks include a soft 100 per cent cotton inner layer. The Premium mask (RRP $24.99) comprises seven layers with a five-layer filter, while the Aussie (RRP $18.99) and the Tradie (RRP $19.99) comprise five layers with a three-layer filter. The range of Australian made reusable washable masks come in “eye-catching” packaging and include free display stands. 22 RETAIL WORLD SEP, 2020
