The 1990’s brought the promise of dramatic social an economic changes as the world drew closer to a new millennium.
A second magazine, Liquor World, was launched after first appearing as a supplement in Retail World. Liquor World was edited by new recruit Karen Webb, but after three years in a very competitive market, Liquor World again became an insert in Retail World. The September issue of Retail World commemorated Franklin’s golden anniversary in a special feature, highlighting the unique nature of the chain.
The 1990s also saw Retail World change its articles of association to allow for the sale of the business to Foodlink.
In one of the most successful transactions made by Retail World, it acquired publisher Sterling Media, which had a number of titles, including Canteen News, National Dog, and Retail Media’s current leading pharmacy trade magazine, Retail Pharmacy.
