South Australia’s Golden North Ice Cream is supporting Lifeline Adelaide in October via a virtual walk fundraiser that aims to raise $5800.
Participants will cover the virtual distance between Adelaide and Laura – the home of Golden North – by taking 9,525 steps per day throughout the month of October. This will come to a grand total of 295,275 steps overall (or 225km).
The initiative proudly supports and raises funds for Lifeline Adelaide, who work tirelessly to save lives through helping people in crisis and promoting positive mental health and wellbeing. Every year, Lifeline Adelaide answers more than 34,000 calls from South Australians experiencing crisis, through their dedicated team of Crisis Supporters via their 24/7 phoneline. The $5800 target is the cost to train two more Crisis Supporters to help answer phone calls.
“The work that Lifeline Adelaide undertakes is truly incredible,” says Golden North Director Dimi Kyriazis. “They have changed so many people’s lives for the better and we want to support them in any way we can.”
To help make all those steps just a little bit sweeter, Golden North are offering multiple $100 ice cream vouchers, for participants that complete their steps the quickest or raise the most amount of money for the worthy charity.
“We really wanted to make the fundraiser fun for participants too, and have them work towards a goal,” Mr Kyriazis says. “What better way to do it than to virtually walk towards delicious ice cream?”
Lifeline Adelaide Service Manager Abram Cunneen says the organisaiton is thrilled to have Golden North’s support.
“It’s a great way for South Australians to shine a light on mental health in the community and not only support the important work our team does, but to get behind a great local brand as well,” he said.
