Planet Ark has published a guide titled The Business Case for Less Waste, which provides advice on creating a recycling strategy within the workplace and the benefits of doing so.
The not-for-profit organisation claims that failing to recycle or optimise waste management causes businesses unnecessary loss.
“By adopting new waste-management equipment, reviewing contracts with recycling providers, or creating green supply chains, which minimise waste and promote efficiency, businesses can make surprising savings,” states the publication, which is available to download at BusinessRecycling.com.au.
Planet Ark also provides online and over-the-phone information and a listing of recycling service providers in Australia. Planet Ark also provides details on recycling options for more than 90 different materials.
“Every year in Australia, businesses generate over 12.5 million tonnes of waste,” Planet Ark states. “Almost half of that waste goes to landfill despite estimates that approximately 70 per cent can be reused or recycled.”
Planet Ark says the costs of sending business waste to landfill instead of recycling are significant, but easily avoided.
