Job seekers are sure to be jolly as the Christmas hiring season is about to begin. The lead up to the most wonderful time of year is also the most busiest time, as Australian and New Zealand businesses prepare for an increase in trade.
Indeed has released data showing that in 2018 Christmas jobs began to appear in late July, exploding in August, before peaking towards the end of September. In November however, most jobs are filled.
“These jobs, concentrated in, but not exclusive to, retail and hospitality, provide crucial work experience and training. Those who perform well may find themselves employed on a more permanent basis,” Indeed APAC Economist Callam Pickering said.
Although in 2018 job opportunities increased 17 per cent more than 2016, Indeed is suggesting that job seekers begin searching now, as those who wait, risk being too late.
