Coles is gifting customers free carrots for Santa’s reindeer over the coming days.
From today (22 December) until Christmas Eve, customers nationwide can collect a free ‘reindeer carrot’ from a designated collection point when exiting their local Coles store.
Five Australian growers from across the country have donated more than 50 tonnes of carrots.
The carrots are growers’ surplus stock and may be a little wonky or blemished but are promoted as being perfect for Rudolf and his team, and will help to reduce food waste in the lead up to Christmas.
Coles Business Category Manager for Vegetables Jason Colosimo says the supermarket is proud to bring back this in-store initiative for the third year running and repurpose food that would otherwise be destined for waste.
“At Coles, we believe in the magic of Christmas and the joy it brings to families, and our reindeer carrots is a small way of adding a touch of enchantment to the holiday season, making it memorable for both children and adults alike,” he says.
“This free giveaway is part of our commitment to community and to creating a positive experience for customers this Christmas.”
