Finder reveals the top rated brands ahead of EOFY sales

The top rated brands across a range of retailers have been announced by Finder in the 2023 Finder Retail Awards.

From electronics to appliances, pet and beauty products and more, the Finder Retail Awards reveal which stores are worth shopping, as voted by Australian consumers.

Finder worked with data and insights company Dynata to survey tens of thousands of Australians to understand how they feel about their recent product purchases. This information was used to identify the brands people like most.

Finder shopping expert Chris Jager says the purpose of the awards was to empower Aussies to make better purchasing decisions.

“Whether you’re a new parent in need of baby supplies, or looking for a new appliance, our best rated retail brands will help you make an informed choice,” Mr Jager said.

“With over 30,000 shoppers taking part in this year’s survey, the Finder Retail Awards are a reliable reflection of consumer sentiment.

“The winners were scored on a range of key factors including value for money and customer service.”

JB Hi-Fi won best rated electronics retailer – customers rated it above all other entrants for product range and it also scored high marks for customer service. It was recommended by an impressive 96% of those surveyed.

Coles was crowned best rated supermarket brand thanks to its customer service and product quality.

Bunnings took top gong for best rated hardware store – a feat it also achieved in last year’s awards.

Dan Murphy’s was awarded best rated bottle shop, while Petstock picked up the best rated pet store retailer brand.

Baby Village was crowned winner of best rated baby store thanks to its impressive scores for customer service, product range, product quality and value for money.

Other winners include BCF for best rated outdoors retailer, TerryWhite Chemmart for best rated pharmacy, Appliances Online for best rated white goods store, AdoreBeauty for best rated makeup retailer, and Muji for best rated stationery retailer brand.

This comes as new Finder research reveals more than one in three (36%) Aussies plan to shop during the end of financial year (EOFY) sales.

Shoppers will spend $3631 on average, contributing $26.7 billion to the Australian economy, including spending on cars ($1340 on average), holidays ($1051), furniture ($280), electronics ($243) and clothing and shoes ($170).

Gen Z is the most likely to shop the EOFY sales this year (57%) and baby boomers the least (16%), the research found.

The majority of those planning to shop the sales will combine online and in-store shopping (52%).

A quarter (25%) will only shop online while just under one in four (23%) will only shop in-person.

Mr Jager said many Aussies were looking forward to bagging a bargain during the sales.

“The cost of living is skyrocketing but Australians aren’t letting all their luxuries go.

“There are some serious deals to take advantage of if you’ve had your eye on something for a while, and many of the sales have already begun.

“Remember, a good deal is only worth it if you need the item,” he said.
