Fire up the laptop, and get ready to sizzle

Heinz is bringing every Aussie’s favourite past time, the sausage sizzle to living rooms.

However this time, funds will be raised for Foodbank, Australia’s largest food relief organisation.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, the demand for Foodbank’s services has increased significantly with more than 1 million Australians relying on the organisations support to put food on their plates.

This Sunday, 24 May, breakfast radio duo Fitzy and Wippa will host the first ever Heinz Ausizzle; a 30-minute, live-streamed Facebook event from 2pm (AEST), encouraging Aussies to get their sizzle on at home. They will be joined by singer and actress Jessica Mauboy and Collingwood AFL player, Taylor Adams.

While enjoying their own snags, attendees will be encouraged to show their support for Foodbank, by making purchases of ‘virtual’ snags and steak sandwiches. Attendees can also donate before, during and after the event, via Heinz Australia’s Facebook page.

“Much like Heinz Tomato Ketchup, the sausage sizzle is an Australian staple – bringing people and communities together, through their love of food and fundraising,” says Chief Marketing Officer of Heinz Australia, Shane Kent.

“Our sizzling session of entertainment will bring the lashings of fun that Heinz is known for as Aussies join forks in supporting Foodbank and have some much-needed fun along the way.”

Every $1 that is raised during the Heinz Ausizzle will help enable Foodbank to provide two meals to an Aussie that is unable to access or afford groceries.

Ketchup lovers and event co-hosts, Fitzy and Wippa say: “Drought, bushfires and now the unprecedented challenge of COVID-19 have triggered an extraordinary rise in demand for emergency food relief over the past several months.

“With demand for food relief continuing to outstrip supply we’re delighted to work with Heinz Tomato Ketchup, to raise much needed funds that will bolster our supplies and help ensure vulnerable Australians across the country have access to food and groceries.”

To register for and attend the Heinz Ausizzle, head to Heinz Australia page on Facebook. Donations can be made before, during and after the event via the donations button on the Facebook page.

Aussies are encouraged to use the hashtags #ausizzle and @heinz_au @foodbankaus @fitzyandwippa.
