In a concerted effort to support families in need, Haben shopping centres have donated over 12,000 nappies to The Nappy Collective, the only Australian nonprofit that focuses solely on collecting nappies and distributing them to families in crisis.

The nappies were collected over a four-week period across nine shopping centre locations in Queensland, Victoria, and New South Wales as part of The Nappy Collective’s 2026 Clean Bums for Little Ones campaign.

This substantial contribution has already benefited nearly 300 families within these communities, providing essential support during challenging times.

“Every nappy donated helps to ease the financial pressure faced by families experiencing hardship and ensures children have access to an everyday essential,” said The Nappy Collective’s Operations Manager, Lauren Read.

“The generosity shown through the campaign demonstrates the positive impact that can be achieved when businesses and communities come together to support those who need it most.”

Addressing nappy poverty

Nappy poverty remains a pressing issue across Australia, with more than 34,000 families every month struggling to afford a consistent supply of nappies. The Nappy Collective addresses this need by collecting donations of nappies and redistributing them through a national network of charity partners, ensuring they reach families who need them most.

The partnership is a natural fit for Haben shopping centres, with donation points located in places families already visit as part of their everyday routines.

“Our centres are part of families’ everyday routines, whether they’re doing the grocery shop, picking up essentials or spending time locally,” said Michelle Thomas, National Manager Marketing at Haben.

“That’s what makes this partnership with The Nappy Collective such a natural fit for Haben.

Expanded partnership

The ongoing partnership between Haben and The Nappy Collective has now expanded to include 12 shopping centres across Australia, which are collecting nappies year-round.

“By making donation points easy to access, we’re giving our communities a simple way to help other local families doing it tough. Customers are encouraged to support the year-round collection by donating any unused disposable nappies, including those from open packs, with older sizes particularly needed, at collection points located inside Haben shopping centres during centre trading hours. Donations will be distributed through The Nappy Collective’s charity network to families who need them most.
