Hardys fortifies its range

Hardys Wines is this month releasing new vintages from the Thomas and Eileen Hardy range of wines, alongside four rare fortified wines.

The upcoming release includes the 2014 Chardonnay (RRP $95), 2014 Pinot Noir (RRP $95) and the 2013 Shiraz (RRP $125) from the Eileen Hardy range, as well as the 2013 vintage of the Thomas Hardy Cabernet Sauvignon (RRP $130).

“The 2014 Eileen Hardy Chardonnay is incredibly special to all of us at the winery as this vintage marks the 30th year of production,” Chief Winemaker Paul Lapsley said. “Along the journey of its making, we have traversed the country selecting cool-climate vineyards that fit our criteria required for this great wine.

“If anyone ever wanted to demonstrate just how far chardonnay wine styles have evolved and improved over the decades in Australia, then this wine is surely the reference point.”

Along with the premium wines, Hardys is releasing a portfolio of unique fortified wines that it claims maintain the Hardys tradition of excellence, innovation and enjoyment.

The Hardys Rare Show Sweet White (RRP $250), Rare Tawny (RRP $100), Rare Muscat (RRP $100) and Rare Liqueur Sauvignon Blanc (RRP $100) have been sourced from the winery’s reserve wines, which have been matured in barrels over many decades. The wines are carefully selected, skilfully blended and produced in limited quantities.

“It’s such a pleasure to be blending these fortifieds and searching out both old and young parcels to bring together for the final result,” Mr Lapsley said.

“I’m particularly excited about the Rare Liqueur Sauvignon Blanc, which we think is the only one of its kind in Australia and, more than likely, globally.”
