Leading supplier supports cancer-affected employees

Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) Australia has engaged CancerAid to support its employees affected by cancer.

As part of the partnership, CCEP’s 3600-plus employees around Australia will have confidential access to CancerAid’s suite of digitally-led programs, the Coach Program and the Carers Program.

The Coach Program is designed for people with a cancer diagnosis. It’s intended to help them navigate their diagnosis through personalised coaching and “award-winning” technology. The Carers Program, on the other hand, equips carers with information and support to reduce the strain of caregiving as they look after their loved one living with cancer.

“Most of us will be touched by cancer at some point in our lives and this is a heartbreaking realisation,” says CCEP Australia Vice President of People & Culture Sarah Burn. “It’s also a key reason why we’ve partnered with CancerAid to offer our employees access to their programs. The wellbeing of our people is of utmost importance to us, and we want to ensure they have the support they need, when they need it most.

“What makes CancerAid a great partner is that their programs are backed by evidence-based resources. They’ve also provided us with organisational training and advice on how best to support team members impacted by cancer as they navigate returning to work.”

According to research from the Australian Institute of Health and Wellbeing, approximately 40% of Australians diagnosed with cancer never return to work.

Understanding the impact this can have on both employees and employers, CancerAid says its Coach Program strives to improve cancer care outcomes. Participants are said to be 73% more likely to return to work than those without access to the same support.

CancerAid co-founder and CEO Dr Raghav Murali-Ganesh adds: “This partnership reflects CCEP’s dedication to supporting the health and wellbeing of its employees. By giving them access to our CancerAid programs, we hope that we can empower more people with or affected by cancer to thrive.

“Addressing the impact of cancer begins with our unwavering commitment to the development of innovative, digitally-led solutions and approaches for patients and their families. It’s wonderful to be able to support CCEP employees in this way.”

CCEP Australia is one of more than 45 organisations engaging CancerAid’s services across the globe.
