Marrickville Metro’s newest expansion on Smidmore Street unveils the newly refurbished ALDI store, boosting the Metro’s supermarket offering in Sydney’s Inner West.
Launched on 3 November, the ALDI store will create an even better shopping experience with the inclusion of more fresh food offerings. These include ALDI’s recently expanded vegan, gluten free and organic ranges sourced from local producers, adding to the existing offers at Coles and Woolworths.
The refreshed store features a dedicated liquor section with ALDI’s multi award-winning liquor range from vegan-friendly Shiraz to the 2019 Gin Masters Gold winner Darley’s Gin.
Marrickville Metro Centre Manager Mike Charlton says, “ALDI has always been an important part of the Marrickville Metro experience and with the new renovation, and its new offerings, it will become an even bigger drawcard. By giving Metro shoppers new, tailored options it’s really rounded out the shopping variety and choice.”
ALDI joins both the new Coles (opened earlier in 2021) and Woolworths at Marrickville Metro. With the renovations, Marrickville Metro boasts “the best ALDI, Coles and Woolworths in the Inner West and the only centre in the area to have all three supermarkets in their most up-to-date form.”
“With each one designed with the Inner West audience in mind, this means that the Metro’s supermarket, fruit & veg, and fresh food and drinks precinct will be the absolute best in the area. Everything the community wants—all in one place.”
Coles, ALDI and Woolworths are just one part of the bigger Metro food experience. With the launch of the new site on Smidmore Street in June, the centre introduced incredible boutique retailers such as Panetta Mercato, specialising in beautiful gourmet and deli items, speciality grocery and local and imported cheese, Astakos Fish Market, offering the highest quality sustainable Australian seafood and CTD Meats, curating the best beef, poultry, pork, lamb and more representing excellent value for money.
Mr Charlton continues, “Our retailers have been brought together because they offer a superior retail experience for our Inner West customer. We want to make sure that the average shopper can come into our fresh food precinct and find everything that they need—whether they’re pulling out all the stops for a special meal, or grocery shopping for the family.”
