Panasonic launches new rugged device

Toughbook G2 is the latest addition to Panasonic’s popular and ever-evolving rugged device range.

Designed for the next generation mobile workforce, it is said to deliver greater flexibility, innovation and security than ever before.

“Increasingly, mobile workforces demand rugged devices that can withstand a unique set of challenges, operate in the harshest environmental conditions and deliver a greater level of safety and assurance,” says Ranjit Sohoni, Senior Product Marketing Manager – Mobile Solutions at Panasonic System Solutions Oceania.

“The Toughbook G2 demonstrates the ongoing evolution of our rugged device portfolio, combining more than 25 years of heritage, innovation, and experience to support new ways of work – which are more agile and disruptive.”

Boasting a “groundbreaking” modular design, the Toughbook G2 offers three expansion areas and a number of different combinations to enable a customised computing experience.

It’s said to present the “gold-standard” of commercial device security, ensuring all data is stored with multiple layers of protection.

The Toughbook G2 also includes new advanced features which makes it compliant with a new class of secure PCs developed by Microsoft in collaboration with many partners.

Ergonomically designed and lightweight (1.19kg), it has a rich set of carrying options to maintain device mobility. The G2 also includes glove-activated touchscreen capabilities, making removing one’s gloves in extreme conditions a problem of the past.

The Toughbook G2 (RRP $4,099) is a Windows Pro tablet and comes with a standard three-year warranty which can be extended up to five years.
