Romeo’s delivers new concept for city consumers

iga entranceDesigned to cater to the needs of city workers, commuters and people living in the inner city, IGA Romeo’s Food Hall opened in the MLC Centre in Martin Place this week.

The new IGA Romeo’s Food Hall is well positioned to take advantage of the trend to ‘mission shop’ and for consumers looking for ‘convenience on the go.’ Open from 6am to 10pm, the store offers an extensive line of take-home meals and an impressive range of produce, which includes one of the city’s largest fresh produce departments, bakery products, premium meats and a large cheese bar, complete with a cheese specialist.

City workers can indulge in the Lindt chocolate pick and mix wall or take advantage of healthy lunchtime food options and barista-made Italian-style coffee to go or at the ‘in-house’ café. The store also carries an extensive range of leading health and beauty products.

IGA Romeo’s Food Hall will also have a corporate catering offering from its fine food range. Businesses can order platters featuring gourmet food from the delicatessen, cheese bar and fresh produce, with delicious accompaniments.

Joseph Romeo said he was proud to be able to introduce the new concept store to city commuters and residents.

“This is the next step in retailing for the Romeo Group,” he said. “It has been designed with choice and convenience at its core. Whether shoppers are looking for quality take-home meals, everyday grocery lines, health food, beauty items or fresh produce, we guarantee high quality at competitive prices.

“Romeo’s has a long history of providing a very high level of service, exceptional quality and an excellent fresh and deli offering of which we are extremely proud. Our stores are tailored to the communities they serve and IGA Romeo’s Food Hall has been designed with the needs of inner city workers, residents and socialisers in mind.”

The Romeo Group has more than 30 years of industry experience and a proud heritage in NSW and South Australia, where it operates 29 stores.

Metcash Group CEO Ian Morrice says he is delighted to be able to support independent retailers such as the Romeo’s.

“This new store demonstrates the flexibility of the independents and their ability to tailor stores, ensuring they provide what communities want,” he said.

“As Australia’s leading wholesaler and owner of the IGA brand, we are working hard with retailers across Australia to ensure they are innovative, flexible and provide product at competitive prices.”

The visually striking concept IGA store was designed by Saunders Global, with the internal fit-out by NSW Holdings, a subsidiary of the Romeo Group.
