Supply Nation announces Sydney Indigenous Business Trade Fair

Supply Nation will bring its Indigenous Business Trade Fair to Sydney this November, connecting procurement and supply chain professionals with verified Indigenous businesses.

The Trade Fair will be held on Thursday, 26 November 2026 at the iconic Walsh Bay Arts Precinct (Pier 2/3), 13A Hickson Road, Dawes Point, providing organisations with a valuable opportunity to discover new suppliers, strengthen supplier diversity outcomes, and build long-term, sustainable commercial partnerships with verified Indigenous businesses.

Following Supply Nation’s flagship Indigenous business event, Connect, held in Perth from 11–12 August 2026, the Sydney Trade Fair is expected to showcase over 80 verified Indigenous businesses representing a diverse range of goods and services.

Connect is Australia’s largest and longest-running business event for the Indigenous business sector. This year’s Perth event attracted more than 230 exhibitors, with just over 4700 individual tickets issued across the two-day event and record levels of representation from Western Australian Indigenous businesses.

The continued growth of the Indigenous business sector is making an important contribution to Australia’s economic resilience, jobs growth and innovation.

In the 2024–25 financial year, Supply Nation’s corporate, government, and not-for-profit members recorded more than $5.83 billion in procurement with verified Indigenous businesses.

“NSW recorded the highest overall procurement figure among member organisations, at $1.71 billion, reflecting the significant and growing role of Indigenous businesses in the state’s economy.”

NSW is also home to the largest number of Supply Nation verified Indigenous businesses, with more than 2000 businesses listed on Indigenous Business Direct, the national directory of verified Indigenous businesses.

“This strong representation reflects the scale, maturity and impact of the Indigenous business sector in NSW. The Sydney Trade Fair will help showcase the depth and diversity of Indigenous businesses, creating new opportunities for buyers to connect directly with Indigenous business owners and explore potential commercial partnerships.”

Supply Nation’s report, “The Sleeping Giant Rises”, highlights the broader economic and social impact of this sector, finding that for every dollar of revenue generated by Indigenous-owned businesses, $3.66 of positive economic and social value is generated for the Australian economy.

This social value extends beyond financial outcomes. From an Indigenous perspective, wellbeing encompasses people, Country and Culture, and includes greater agency and control over life, expanded aspirations, financial security, pride, physical health and mental wellbeing, and stronger connections to Community, Culture and Country.

“Importantly, this value is generated through Indigenous businesses simply operating as businesses. It does not include the impact of additional formal or informal support, philanthropic programs, or other initiatives.”

The Sydney Trade Fair will provide procurement and supply chain professionals with a practical opportunity to meet Indigenous business owners, explore new quality products and services, and identify opportunities to strengthen their organisation’s supply chains through Indigenous procurement.

Businesses interested in exhibiting are encouraged to register early, with strong demand for exhibitor places expected.

The Sydney Trade Fair has been made possible through support from the City of Sydney.

Supply Nation CEO Kate Russell said: “Following our very successful Connect event in Perth this year, we are excited to be able to provide an additional opportunity in Sydney for local and interstate businesses to present their quality products and services to corporate, government and not-for profit buyers.

“The City of Sydney was a founding member of Supply Nation and has been a strong supporter of increased engagement with Indigenous suppliers through procurement initiatives. We are pleased to have the opportunity to work closely with the City of Sydney on the Trade Fair and thank them for the considerable support.

“Local government procurement targets can play a significant role in supporting Indigenous business growth with a buy local approach. Some councils are already demonstrating what is possible but much more can be done to capitalise on this untapped potential to improve economic outcomes.

“I encourage local council procurement representatives from Sydney councils to take the time to attend our Trade Fair and assess for themselves the great product and service quality on show. You won’t be disappointed.”
