The Victorian government has announced in its state budget that $8.5 million will be directed to strengthen food security.

Funding will deliver another round of the Community Food Security Program for community and volunteer organisations. It will also boost support for the Coordination Fund for large-scale food relief organisations.

This is in addition to the $2.7 million immediate relief announced in April to boost support for food relief.

Victorian Minister for Carers and Volunteers Luba Grigorovitch says food relief is a lifeline – and Labor is making sure it reaches the families who need it most.

“We’re backing community organisations because no Victorian family should go hungry,” she says.
