Shoppers in Dunedin and Christchurch will be able to order more than 10,000 grocery items in under an hour, as MILKRUN comes to Te Wai Pounamu for the first time.
“MILKRUN has exploded in popularity since it launched in Auckland and Wellington this July with 100% growth month on month and is now expanding further across the country.”
Woolworths New Zealand Director of Digital Mark Wolfenden says the business is thrilled by how Kiwis have taken to MILKRUN with everything from fresh fruit and milk to tubs of ice cream making their way into shopping carts.
“Our most popular time for orders is between 4-7pm, and it’s proving to be a great service for busy people who need to fill their pantries quickly. We’re proud that we can be a helping hand and provide the essentials for folks who might need a few final ingredients for dinner.
“It’s great to now be bringing that MILKRUN convenience further down the country and we’re excited to see how the South Island responds”, Mr Wolfenden said.
MILKRUN will be available in 75 suburbs across Christchurch and Dunedin, servicing the majority of the cities. Orders are fulfilled from Countdown and Woolworths stores.
MILKRUN guarantees deliveries within 60 minutes, and since launch has averaged a delivery time of 31 minutes. Customers can follow along the progress of their shop as it is picked in store, and track delivery to the minute. New customers will receive free delivery on their first three orders. After that, MILKRUN has a flat $7 delivery fee with no service fees.
“We’ve been part of New Zealand’s online shopping landscape since 1996 when we started a trial with 100 Auckland customers and floppy disks. Since then, things have changed a fair bit but ultimately, we still love providing Kiwis with innovation to make life easier and as we become Woolworths New Zealand, we’re ramping it up even further”, Mr Wolfenden said.
