ALDI’s Tandil brand has taken out the top three spots in a ranking of dishwashing liquids by CHOICE. The consumer group tested 50 different dishwashing liquids to reveal which ones will keep your dishes sparkling clean and the ones that will leave you relying on elbow grease.
CHOICE Director of Reviews and Testing, Matthew Steen says ALDI “wiped the floor with its competitors”, with Tandil Ultra Power Soak and Tandil Ultra Quick Dry both scoring an impressive 90%. Tandil Ultra Odour Neutralising was the next best product scoring 85%.
“These three Aldi detergents are streets ahead in terms of performance and price, which is a win for both your dishes and your pocket,” he says.
“Aldi’s dishwashing liquids are also great bargains at the checkout at just 40 cents per 100ml. That’s around a quarter of the price of other top-scoring detergents from well-known brands such as Morning Fresh and Palmolive,” says Mr Steen.
However, not all of ALDI’s products tested so well. Another Tandil product, Tandil Ultra Bacterial, was equal-last in the CHOICE test, scoring just 60%. Other dishwashing liquids to share the score and ranking include:

Mr Steen says a number of well-known brands, including ALDI, had products towards both the top and bottom of the leaderboard.
“This goes to show that you should never assume that if one product cleans well, similar ones from the same brand will deliver the same results,” he says.
