ARA launches comprehensive ‘2023 ARA Retail Insights Report’

The Australian Retailers Association (ARA) has released its ‘2023 ARA Retail Insights Report’ – the most comprehensive annual overview of the retail outlook.

For the first time, the ARA has launched a live Digital Dashboard – featuring a continuously updated display of all the key retail statistics.

ARA CEO Paul Zahra says retail’s performance is a bellwether for the broader economy and of significant interest heading into this year of economic uncertainty.

“Thanks to the diligent work of the ARA and its partners we are proud to say that quality data and insights now form the cornerstone of conversations and decisions about the industry. The ARA’s 2023 Retail Insights Report serves as a central point of information around our retail performance and outlook,” Mr Zahra said.

“The report is a living document which features insightful conversations with sixteen of Australia’s leading retail researchers and analysts. We examine the powerful shift that’s occurred in the way people live, work and purchase the goods and services they need, along with a look at the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for retail in the midst of economic headwinds’”, he said.

This year’s ‘Retail Insights Report’ features the work of many of the experts that analyse and support the sector including the following commentators:

  • Industry Performance by MST Marquee, Roy Morgan and Deloitte
  • Online eCommerce by Australia Post and QUT
  • Retail Reputation by RepTrak
  • Small Business by American Express and Hitch Advisory
  • Consumer Trends by QUT and Afterpay
  • Retail as a Career by The Careers Department, The Retail Mentors and ARA Retail Institute
  • Retail Marketing by Meta
  • Global Trends by the ARA and QUT.

“We have worked diligently to create and centralise a storehouse of key industry data and statistics, unparalleled by most other sectors. In doing so, we highlight retail’s strength and resilience in the face of many challenges; its contribution to the economy; it’s importance to the workforce and its critical importance to lifestyle outcomes for all Australians,” Mr Zahra said.
