Dairy-free yoghurt for kids makes use of chia seeds

The Chia Co. has reimagined its Chia Pod range for kids, creating what has been described as a “smooth, ready-to-eat pouch – perfect for little mouths”.

According to the company, the new non-dairy yoghurt alternative range (Chia Pod Smooth) blends sustainably farmed, sun-ripened Australian chia seeds with coconut milk and real plant-based ingredients.

The Chia Co. claims that the product is gluten-free, nut-free and vegan-friendly. The Chia Pod Smooth range is also said to be a good source of omega-3, fibre and calcium, and is available in three flavours: Chocolate, Banana and Mixed Berry.

“As a father of three and after our eight year-old daughter was diagnosed with coeliac disease earlier this year, I am personally passionate about ensuring there are good snacking options for busy parents on-the-go, that are not only convenient but offer that much-needed peace of mind by being free from FSANZ allergens, gluten-free and packed with all the nutrients found in chia,” The Chia Co. founder and CEO John Foss said.

“We therefore wanted to make it easier for kids (and parents) to enjoy the taste and nutritional benefits of our Chia Pod range, a fantastic plant-based, non-dairy yoghurt alternative. Ideal for any snacking ‘emergency’ moment, Chia Pod Smooth offers blended chia pudding in a no-mess pouch, perfect for little hands and little mouths.”

The Chia Co.’s new range is available nationally in selected Woolworths stores.
