David Jones has appointed Nigel Chadwick as Chief Financial Officer effective 25 August 2026.
Mr Chadwick has more than 30 years of international experience as a senior finance executive, including six years as the CFO of Myer until February 2024.
Mr Chadwick was also Head of Group Treasury, Corporate Finance and Tax at BHP for almost 14 years, as well as eight years of treasury and finance experience at Telstra.
Mr Chadwick’s extensive experience in financial management, treasury, investor relations and strategic execution across significant ASX-listed entities means he is well placed to support David Jones CEO Erica Berchtold in executing the company’s strategic priorities.
Ms Berchtold said: “We’re delighted to welcome Nigel to our executive team at a critical phase of David Jones’ 188-year history.
“Nigel is a seasoned retail finance executive with a strong understanding of the dynamics that drive performance in large-scale retail businesses. Having led finance, transformation and commercial functions across complex consumer-facing organisations, he brings a proven track record of strategic execution, financial leadership and business transformation,” she said.
“These are the perfect credentials for our current business plan.
“Nigel will work closely with me on the implementation of our INSPIRE30 strategy as well as our ongoing discussions with our partners and suppliers as we move towards normalising our supplier payment terms.
“We are making progress in those discussions and Nigel’s deep department store experience will be invaluable as we strengthen our partner and supplier relationships.”
Ms Berchtold was appointed CEO of David Jones in June and Mr Chadwick’s appointment supports the continued delivery of the company’s INSPIRE30 strategy.
Mr Chadwick is replacing Clint May, who will remain with David Jones in the interim to ensure a seamless transition and provide continuity for the executive team, partners and stakeholders.
“I would like to thank Clint for his contribution over the past three years. During his time with David Jones, Clint has played a significant role in delivering our Vision 2025+ strategy and transformation program,” Ms Berchtold said.
“Clint led the development and delivery of our value chain strategy, successfully supported the refinancing of the business, and implemented disciplined cost management initiatives that have reshaped our cost base, creating a more efficient operating model.
“On behalf of everyone at David Jones, I wish him every success in the next chapter of his career.”
