Jones Retail Group hosted its second annual Charity Race Day on 20 April at Brisbane’s Eagle Farm Racecourse.
The event saw a turnout of 220 attendees who collectively raised $60,609 for the Heart of the Community Foundation, the charitable arm of Jones Retail Group, with all proceeds going to The Cage Youth Foundation.
Attendees participated in various fundraising activities, including silent auctions, raffles, live auctions, and a fast-paced Calcutta. Even the event furniture was up for sale, with proceeds going towards the charitable cause.
The Cage, a non-profit organisation founded by Pastors Peter and Linda Grieve in 2001, has been serving the youth of the Redlands community for over two decades.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of donors, The Cage has achieved significant milestones in its mission to Create A Good Environment (C.A.G.E.) for underprivileged youths. The funds raised from last year’s events have enabled the organisation to acquire essential resources, including a people mover van for school programs and excursions, industrial cool rooms for Cage Eats breakfast club food distribution, and additional support for crisis care food distribution.
Moreover, The Cage has been able to employ a full-time counsellor and a part-time youth worker. This year’s fundraising efforts will allow the organisation to expand its impact by enhancing counselling services, developing mentoring programs, and initiating other crucial initiatives.
