News Australia has launched ‘Spend Smart Save Big’, its end of financial year campaign anchored by news.com.au Checkout, Australia’s “number one” publisher for Australians searching for EOFY deals*. The Checkout team has vetted and hand-picked up to 8,500 deals across tech, home, beauty, travel and fashion, giving Australian shoppers a trusted shortcut to genuine value for one of the retail calendar’s biggest events.
In 2025, the campaign generated $5.4 million in sales (up 38% YoY) and 1.2 million clicks (up 16% YoY) for brand partners, driven by 14 million page impressions of high-intent shopping content^.
This year’s campaign builds on that foundation with three new formats designed to connect with shoppers at the moments that matter:
- Spend Smart: a talent-led video series placing news.com.au Checkout’s shopping experts directly into consumers’ social feeds.
- Live deals blog: a real-time format surfacing verified deals as they drop, with Checkout editors sharing their picks and shopping insights.
- GEO content: human-curated Checkout recommendations built to surface when consumers turn to AI for the best deals.
These formats sit alongside a suite of proven touchpoints: a live deals ticker across news.com.au and News Australia’s state mastheads, master buying guides, dedicated newsletters and SMS deal alerts throughout the campaign period.
News Australia General Manager, eCommerce Sophie Miura said: “With Australian households adjusting their spending due to cost-of-living pressures, EOFY has never been more important for consumers or for the brands trying to reach them. Australians aren’t looking for more noise. They want someone they trust to tell them what’s actually worth their money. Our editors have done that work, hand-picking up to 8,500 deals and verifying key offers so shoppers can spend with confidence, converting high-intent browsers into buyers.”
The four-week campaign launches today across news.com.au, The Daily Telegraph, Herald Sun, The Courier-Mail, The Advertiser, Vogue Australia, GQ Australia, Taste.com.au, Body+Soul and Escape. Spend Smart Save Big is supported by a comprehensive marketing campaign across digital, print, social, audio and video.
