OMO Australia celebrates sporting club heroes

OMO Australia – a Unilever brand – has extended its footprint with the AFL community by launching the OMO Ultimate Local Footy Club Legend competition honouring and rewarding those individuals whose hard work often goes unnoticed but is truly indispensable to the spirit of grassroots footy.

The national competition, which runs until 10 September, is designed to celebrate the unsung heroes of local AFL footy clubs – “the legends who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make a difference. Whether it’s the devoted volunteer who prepares the grounds, the enthusiastic team manager who handles logistics, or the passionate supporter who cheers on the team rain or shine, OMO wants to shine a spotlight on these individuals and their exceptional contributions.”

The competition entries will go in the draw to win four tickets to the 2023 Toyota AFL Premiership Grand Final, as well as flights and accommodation, and a year’s supply of OMO Ultimate products. A further 10 runners-up will receive OMO Ultimate prize packs (including Omo Ultimate laundry detergent for your club).

“OMO believes dirt is the sign of a game well played – and that’s something we see across AFL communities, and across all levels of the sport,” says Unilever Marketing Manager Homecare ANZ Annie Lucchitti. “As part of the competition, OMO Ultimate will look to unearth the local legends that support the players behind the scenes, from the property stewards to the families tackling the tough stains in laundry each week around the country.”

The OMO Ultimate Local Footy Club Legend competition is open to all AFL footy clubs across the country. Nominations can be submitted through the official competition website 7plus.com.au/omoultimate.

The launch of the OMO Ultimate Local Footy Club Legend competition further cements OMO’s link to the AFL, with 2023 the brand’s second year as Official Laundry Detergent Partner of the AFL.

“We know footy can get messy, whether it’s tackling the toughest of stains – mud, grass, sweat and even tomato sauce, which is why through the partnership with AFL we hope to make the cleaning and stain removal process easier, while also creating some fun touchpoints for fans along the way,” Ms Lucchitti said.

Spearheaded by the brand’s OMO Ultimate product, “the gold standard in laundry”, the 2023 activity has seen OMO teaming up with some of the game’s most iconic teams, including Collingwood, St Kilda, Sydney and Brisbane.
