Ritchies Supermarkets and Kraft Heinz partner with The Salvation Army

Kraft Heinz and Ritchies Supermarkets are partnering with The Salvation Army this month to launch a ‘Buy One, Give One’ in-store promotion aimed at supporting local communities in need.

The rising cost of living is affecting everyday Australians, with many households experiencing food insecurity in the past 12 months. This has seen an increasing number of requests for food services from charities around Australia. Between July 2022 – June 2023, through their homelessness services alone, The Salvation Army provided more than 1.63 million meals to homeless people in the community.

To provide these essential services, The Salvation Army relies on the generosity and support of its corporate partners who donate much needed funds and supplies to their organisation every year.

“Providing meals to people is a key part of the work we do, so large-scale donations of food items have an enormous impact on the people we support every day, particularly noting the rising cost of living and financial pressures when it comes to affording everyday items such as groceries,” says The Salvation Army Relationship Manager Corporate Partnerships Judi Agnew.

Kraft Heinz and Ritchies Supermarket’s ‘Buy One, Give One’ promotion, will help support The Salvation Army in feeding Australian’s experiencing food insecurity this year. For every Heinz and Gravox product purchased from any Ritchies Supermarket, between 22-28 May 2024, Kraft Heinz will donate food supplies of the equivalent value to The Salvation Army.

Kraft Heinz Commercial Director Anderson Carneiro says: “At Kraft Heinz we are committed to the communities across Australia including those living in remote areas. By donating food supplies to The Salvation Army, we hope to support those in our community who are doing it tough during this time.”

Following the success of its Pantry Week initiative in 2022, which saw over 32.1 thousand units of food be donated to The Salvation Army, Kraft Heinz and Ritchies Supermarkets are aiming to donate additional food items to The Salvation Army this year to meet growing needs.

“We would love to exceed our donations from 2022 to help The Salvation Army provide more meals to the community in 2024. We encourage our customers to shop with the knowledge that when you buy one, you are making a real difference as we give one back to those in need,” says Ritchies Supermarkets CEO Fred Harrison.

To support the initiative, customers can visit any Ritchies Supermarket across Australia and purchase any Heinz or Gravox products between 22-28 May 2024.
