San Remo announces 2023 ‘Chef De Tour Down Under’ ambassador

Australia’s favourite pasta brand, San Remo, has announced cycling legend Anna Meares OAM as its ‘Chef De Tour Down Under’ ahead of the cycling event in South Australia this month.

Although retired from racing, Anna will put her helmet back on at this year’s Tour Down Under, riding alongside her children during the San Remo Family Tour. Located at Victoria Square on 14 January, spectators and participants can join in the cycling, enjoy delicious San Remo pasta dishes, and meet inspiring cyclists.

San Remo Chief Marketing Officer James Askham-Levy says, “We’re excited to have Australian cycling champion and sporting hero Anna Meares on board to bring Australian families together at the San Remo Family Tour, an afternoon full of cycling, pasta and fun.

“The Santos Tour Down Under is such a fantastic event for South Australia and we’re thrilled that it’s returning to include local and international cycling participation. The pairing of San Remo pasta and cycling is a perfect match as it has been long regarded as the go-to meal for an energy boost by athletes including cyclists to keep them going for longer.”

Ms Meares remains a passionate pasta fan, commonly serving it to her family for lunch and dinner along with using it to keep her energy levels high when travelling, working out, commentating and being a busy parent.

As the newly appointed ambassador for the San Remo Family Tour, Ms Meares says, “I am thrilled to be working with San Remo to fuel my love for pasta, cycling and family. I’m looking forward to being part of the Santos Tour Down Under this year and riding along with my children and the future champions of tomorrow at San Remo Family Tour.”

Tickets for the San Remo Family Tour are available online at the Santos Tour Down Under website for $35. The ticket includes an hour on the Classic Street Circuit track, a custom Tour T Shirt, bike tag and a goodie bag to fill with giveaways from Oppy’s Ochre Trail.
