SIAL Innovation 2019 winners revealed

SIAL China, the largest food innovation exhibition in Asia, took place on May 14-16 in Shanghai. With 4,300 exhibitors and 117,595 professional visitors at this year expo, it was the largest to date.

The presentation of the SIAL Innovation 2019 Award was a highlight of the event. SIAL Innovation is the only international contest with a presence in the four corners of the world. Made up of food-industry experts, and held in partnership with XTC World Innovation, a jury rewards 10 finalists and hands out the Gold/Silver/Bronze Awards.

Xavier Terlet, President and founder of XTC World Innovation, SIAL Innovation’s partner, announced the selection of the 10 finalists in April. Each of the finalist products were said to bring enjoyment and pleasure to consumers through quality ingredients and product design. The jury considered health, packaging and customer convenience for selecting the SIAL Innovation Finalists.

Among the finalists were Damath Bouillon (natural broth in compostable pods) from Switzerland, Gemice Sea Salt Avocado Ice Cream from China, Beyond Burger vegan patties from the US, and Valfleuri Tendr’Epices organic vegetable pasta from France.

And the winners are …

Inner Mongolia Yili Industrial Group, China, was awarded gold for Yiran Milk Mineral Light Drink. Described as a “refreshing drink with milk minerals” the beverage is said to be high in calcium, fat-free and low in sugar and calories. The beverage is packaged in a modern design bottle.

Soligrano from Poland was awarded silver for its Vege Spelt Burger with Pepper and Linseed. Selected for the meat-free vegan recipe and the sophisticated packaging, the vegan burger is made with cereals and vegetables, is soy free, and can be prepared in 15 minutes.

Foodistry from South Korea was awarded bronze for Real Porridge. Available in four variants, the porridge is said to be rich in vegetables and contains no sugar or additives. It was selected for its plant-based recipe and convenient puch packaging.

World Champions Tour

All the winners benefit from the unique opportunity of travelling the world by displaying their products in a dedicated area, called World Champions Tour, within all the SIAL network shows.

SIAL is the leading global network of shows dedicated to the food and beverage industry, with seven shows (SIAL Paris, SIAL Canada, Montreal and Toronto, SIAL China, SIAL Middle East, SIAL Interfood in Jakarta and Food India) that bring together 14,000 exhibitors and 330,000 visitors from 194 countries.
