Unilever Australia has again teamed up with Clean Up Australia and Coles to fund educational materials and provide free Clean Up Kits to schools and communities across Australia.
Between 7 May and 3 June, when shoppers buy one of Unilever’s participating products at Coles, 10¢ from each purchase will go towards Unilever’s donation this year of $150,000.
Since the formation of the partnership in 2020 and with the help of Australian shoppers, Unilever has been able to donate a total of $574,000 to Clean Up Australia, which has helped supply more than 7000 free Clean Up Kits.
Unilever ANZ CEO Nick Bangs says Australia has some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world and that’s why keeping rubbish out of the environment is so vital.
“Our long-standing partnership with Coles and Clean Up Australia is one of the important actions that we’re taking across our organisation to help reduce plastic waste and create a more circular economy for packaging,” he says.
“Education is essential to build the right behaviours, which is where Cool.org’s free online resources play an important role in teaching children about sustainability practices.”
Clean Up Australia CEO Jenny Geddes says when added together, individual actions make a big difference, and it’s wonderful to see how many Australians don some gloves and get involved in Clean Ups to help improve the environment.
“In addition, the involvement from Unilever, Coles and Cool.org is critical in driving awareness about our work and helps to empower us all with the required knowledge and resources to help prevent litter from entering the environment in the first place,” she says.
Coles General Manager of Sustainability Brooke Donnelly adds: “Thanks to Unilever’s continued support, we’re able to spread awareness across Australia and encourage customers to participate and help fundraise for such a great cause.”
