Woolworths drops prices on hearty winter meal essentials

From Wednesday, Woolworths will drop the price on more than 450 winter essentials by an average 20% for the next three months as part of its Prices Dropped for Winter program.

The seasonal Prices Dropped program has been running for a number of years and each season Woolworths reveals a new range of products that will be dropped in price to “help customers better manage their budgets,” the retailer said.

A number of fresh proteins have been included in the program, with some items being dropped “to their lowest price in nearly four years.” This includes:

  • Corned Beef Silverside (was $10/kg, now $8/kg) – this is the lowest price since November 2020.
  • Beef Chuck Steak (was $17.50/kg, now $15/kg) – this is the lowest price since November 2020.
  • RSPCA Approved Whole Chickens (was $5.50/kg, now $4.50/kg).
  • RSPCA Approved Chicken Stir Fry 500g packs (was $9, now $8).
  • Roast Pork Shoulder Boneless (was $10/kg, now $8/kg)
  • Pork Belly Roast (was $19/kg, now $16/kg).

Woolworths also sources 100% of its own brand fresh meat and chicken from Australian farmers.

A range of other winter warmers, and home and pantry essentials are also included in the program:

  • Perfect Italiano Parmesan Sharp Cheese 125g (was $4.50, now $4).

Woolworths Supermarkets Chief Commercial Officer Paul Harker says: “We understand the pressures our customers are under and the need to budget for hearty, warming meals, and grocery essentials for their families.

“Our Prices Dropped for Winter program is designed to give our customers certainty on the key products they’ll be buying this season to help their budgets go further.”

In addition to the Prices Dropped for Winter program, “Woolworths remains committed to offering customers value every time they are in store through its Everyday Low Price program and Member Price offers.”

Other ways to save at Woolworths:

  • Woolworths offers thousands of weekly specials, including many half price offers.
  • Customers can save about 30 per cent on average by opting for Woolworths own brand products compared to similar branded products.
  • The Odd Bunch offers another way to save at least 20 per cent on fruit and vegetables that are “slightly odd, but still great quality, while also supporting Australian farmers who are able to sell more of their produce.”
  • Using Woolworths online tools including the Best Unit Price filter, which “helps customers sort items by lowest unit price.” In stores, Woolworths is also increasing the size of displayed price and unit price in marketing materials “so that it’s easier for customers to see and compare unit prices when shopping.”

The Prices Dropped for Winter program runs from 29 May 2024 until 27 August 2024. Customers can view more products on the Prices Dropped for Winter program.
