Metcash partners with Visa on Family-Founded campaign

Australian leading wholesaler and service provider Metcash has announced that six independent, family-founded retailers across its food, liquor and hardware networks have been awarded major prize packages as part of its Big Family, Big Prizes campaign, supported by Visa.

The retailer prize draw follows the success of the national in-store shopper competition, which ran throughout July across thousands of family-founded stores under Metcash-supported brands, including IGA, IGA Local Grocer, Foodland, Mitre 10, Home Hardware, Total Tools, Cellarbrations, The Bottle-O and Porters Liquor. The campaign generated more than 85,000 consumer entries and resulted in 14,000 instant winners and three major prize winners.

Participating independent retailers were entered into a separate draw for the chance to win prizes valued at up to $75,000, recognising their role in bringing the competition to life in-store and engaging local shoppers across the country.

Metcash Chief Growth Officer Danielle Jenkinson said: “Big Family, Big Prizes celebrates the strength of the independent retail network and the important role family-founded businesses play in their communities and the Australian economy. After such a strong shopper response to the in-store competition, we wanted to also recognise the retailers who helped make the campaign such a success.

“Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to the independent retailers in our network who supported the competition. We are also thrilled to have had incredible support from suppliers and partners like Visa throughout the campaign.”

The support for the Big Family, Big Prizes campaign forms part of Metcash and Visa’s ongoing partnership, which is focused on backing small businesses and helping them drive growth through secure and seamless digital payments.

Visa Australia Head of Client Engagement Ivana Tranchini said: “Small businesses are at the heart of Australian communities. Visa is proud to support Metcash’s Big Family, Big Prizes campaign and celebrate the energy and dedication of independent retailers across the country.”
